Real TeleFIX

Telenomus sp.
About

Telenomus sp. wasps (Real TeleFIX) are egg parasitoids and have been observed laying their eggs on stinkbug eggs in the field. Real TeleFIX larvae feed on stinkbug eggs, pupate, and emerge as adult wasps, thereby destroying the parasitised stinkbug eggs. This makes Real TeleFIX wasps naturally occurring assets in stinkbug control.

Mode of Action

Effective against:

  • Two-Spotted stinkbug, Bathycoelia distincta, being the dominant species in most areas.
  • It is also effective against other problem stinkbugs, namely Yellow-edged and Green vegetable stinkbug.
Benefits

Real TeleFIX:

  • Have a lifespan of more than 8 weeks and can parasitise more than 80 stinkbug eggs over this period.
  • The adult female wasp lays her fertilised eggs inside the stinkbug eggs & within two days, Real TeleFIX hatch into the first instar larvae and feed on the undeveloped stinkbug inside the egg. After 14- 15 days, the adult wasp emerges and starts the next generation of biocontrol wasps in the orchards.
  • Adult wasps keep hydrated from dew drops or water droplets from micro-irrigation spreaders, and they feed on a wide range of plants species’ pollen and nectar.
  • Real TeleFIX are well adapted to high temperatures (as high as 35°C), as well as low temperatures (they can survive temperatures below 8°C).
  • Some environmental factors may affect the sex ratio of the adult wasps, the typical recorded ratio exceeds 80% females – with very high parasitism rates.
Application

The preferred method of application is to use the fastening wire attached to the cards and tie the cards into the centre of your tree. The use of parasitised eggs allows for optimum product quality and placement while also providing greater dispersal of Real TeleFIX compared to releasing adult wasps. This in-turn provides faster and more effective control of the target pest.

Avoid toxic chemicals in the period leading up to and after release.

Compatibility
  • The predatory wasp is most effective at temperatures around 25°C.
  • The lowest temperature at which development can occur is 13°C; the highest temperature is 38°C.
  • Avoid toxic chemicals in the period leading up to and after release.
